Dixie State University's club rodeo team is off to a great start after participating in its first rodeo of the season on March 3.
"We had a great weekend in Salina at the Snow College rodeo," Guy Salisbury, coach of the rodeo team, said. "We are just getting started with these young athletes and it is amazing seeing how self-driven they are and how much they love to practice."
The athletes' hard work paid off at the rodeo, where they competed in goat tying, steer wrestling, breakaway roping, team roping and barrels.
Jodie Moody started the competition off by tying her goat in just 7.7 seconds, putting her in second place for the round. Saige Judd followed, tying her goat in 8.1 seconds.
Sam Salisbury competed in steer wrestling, going 7.7 seconds and earning second place.
Judd competed again, this time in breakaway roping and came away with a win to close the weekend out.
The following weekend, the team headed to the College of Southern Idaho.
