DSU students create the University’s first animated short film

By Alexander Chamberlain

Students in Prof. Alex Chamberlain's 3D Animation class have finished work on the University's first animated short, entitled "Roofus Makes a Mess." The short follows the misadventures of a robotic vacuum cleaner who, despite having good intentions, turns out to be ill-prepared for the realities of a messy house. Roofus attempts to clean his new home under the disdainful eyes of the old cleaning implements, who watch him jealously from the coat closet. Students worked using a studio workflow to rapidly create assets and animated scenes or "chapters" including physics simulations, virtual lighting, and of course, facial expressions for the characters.
