Respiratory Therapy Program earns national Credentialing Success Award

By Hanna Pollock

The Dixie State University Respiratory Therapy Program recently received the Distinguished Registered Respiratory Therapist Credentialing Success Award from the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care. The award is bestowed upon programs that inspire graduates to achieve their educational and professional aspirations, document RRT credentialing success at 90 percent or above, and meet the commission’s standards for retention, on-time graduation rate and overall employer and graduate satisfaction among other guidelines. Dixie State was presented the award during the American Association for Respiratory Care’s Summer Forum in San Antonio, Texas. Dixie State’s Respiratory Therapy Program provides hands-on learning for students seeking careers in respiratory therapy. DSU’s program fosters critical thinking in classroom and clinical settings, creates a culture of teamwork that carries over to clinical sites and future employment, teaches personal responsibility and maintains a dynamic learning environment in which faculty stay abreast of current respiratory practices, procedures and research.
