Students to take Northern Utah Career Tour

Career Services and the School of Business are offering students an amazing opportunity for a career tour in Northern Utah during Spring Semester.  “This career tour will give students the chance to experience firsthand company cultures, meet recruiters, and make connections for future employment,” said Shane Blocker, Career Services Assistant Director.

Faculty members Helen Saar, Todd Hess, and Matt Harris have been planning the trip with their students in mind.  “This is the type of opportunity all of our students should try to participate in,” said Saar.  “These companies offer opportunities in their field as well as a great way to network with our alumni and other professionals.”

The Northern Utah Career Tour will take place February 7-8, 2019.  Four companies will host our students including Qualtrics, Entrata, Overstock and Health Catalyst.  Students will also visit the David Eccles School of Business graduate programs and the University of Utah Lassonde Center.  An alumni networking dinner is on the agenda as well.  “Last year our students made great connections at all the employers we visited as well as with the alumni,” said Hess, “we expect the same this year.” Students interested in this trip need to complete an application by December 7, 2018.  Applications can be requested and submitted by emailing rochelle.blatter@utahtech.edu or by stopping by Career Services.  All completed applications should be turned into Career Services, Holland 5th Floor.  The trip is limited to 30 students with priority given to junior and senior level students.  The trip will cost $75 and will include transportation and housing.

“While this trip is geared toward accounting, finance and analytics students, any student would benefit from the opportunity to get an inside perspective on how to get hired and what a career would look like at these firms,” said Harris.

We look forward to this trip every year,” said Blocker. “This is an opportunity our students do not want to miss.”
